Every morning when I arrive at Cherith Junior School, I am reminded why I chose to work in education. Walking into the classrooms, I see children full of curiosity, energy, and dreams, dreams that might have seemed impossible without the support of a caring school and dedicated teachers. Many of these children come from families facing financial struggles, instability, or other hardships, and yet their potential shines through.
I have witnessed firsthand how quality primary education can transform lives. Itโs not just about teaching children to read, write, or do sums. Itโs about giving them confidence, helping them think critically, and showing them that their circumstances do not define their future. Iโve seen shy, hesitant children slowly find their voices, speak up in class, and even encourage their classmates. These moments are small victories, but they are the building blocks of something much larger, a life of possibility.
Our teachers work tirelessly to ensure every child feels valued and supported. Sometimes, itโs staying after class to help with a lesson. Other times, itโs listening when a child needs to talk or offering encouragement when they feel discouraged. I have learned that these simple acts of care can create ripple effects that last a lifetime.
I often think of the words of Nelson Mandela:
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. It transforms lives, lifts communities, and gives children born into poverty the chance to break free from cycles that might otherwise define their future.”

At Cherith Junior, I see this truth every day. When a child gains access to quality education, they are learning more than lessons; they are learning hope, resilience, and self-belief. They are learning that they can dream bigger than their circumstances and that those dreams can become reality.
Breaking poverty cycles is not quick, and it is not always easy. But every child who grows, learns, and thrives here reminds me why this work matters. At Cherith Junior School, we are proud to be part of these journeysโone lesson, one smile, and one child at a time.
